The Four Agreements

A little Inspirational Wisdom from the Toltec’s…  by Don Miguel Ruiz

The Toltecs were known as women and men of knowledge, they were scientists and artists who explored spiritual truths for inspirational enlightenment, personal freedom and wholeness 🙂

Quiet your minds and listen to your body because your body will never lie to you. Your mind will play tricks, but the way you feel in your heart and in your gut, is the truth. To create balance and harmony in our world, we need to create balance and harmony within ourselves…

The four agreements (as summarized on the book flap) are:

Firstly, Be Impeccable with your Word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using Words to speak against yourself or others. Use the power of the word in the direction of truth and love.

Secondly, Don’t Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. Do not allow yourself to be a victim, you are never responsible for the actions of others, you are only responsible for yourself.

Thirdly, Don’t Make Assumptions
Ask questions and express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings and drama.

Lastly, Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to when you are sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

perhaps its a bit of a cliche, but still extremely significant and often the most basic of concepts can be the most powerful… I found that the summary was enough, but for those of you who would like a more in depth understanding of these agreements, I suggest you purchase the book…. 🙂

Read over the agreements every now and again, especially when you feel like you are loosing touch…
